Online dating really is the way to meet people!  Ten years ago, when I met my life partner on an online dating site, it was frowned upon.  We found ourselves fabricating stories about how we met, for those conservative friends and family!  Today, online dating is mainstream, with new websites popping up all over the Internet.

According to market research company Synovate, in a 2006 survey, there was a relatively equal distribution between those who believed the internet to be a fantastic way to meet singles (49%), and those who believed it is a waste of time (48%).  Since then, the online dating industry has seen massive growth and acceptance, in a recent survey only 4% thought that Internet dating was a waste on time.

Today, online dating covers and endless array of niche markets.  From the mainstream heterosexual market to sites where you can meet couples. So no matter what is is that you are looking for, there's a good chance that you will find it online!
